PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master unit provided with a speech recording function whereby the privacy of a user using a slave unit apart from the master unit can be protected. SOLUTION: The master unit 20 without a handset is provided with an operation section 24, a memory 26 for recording a speech, and a main control section 29 for permitting recording of a speech with a prescribed slave unit and disapproving recording of a speech by the other slave units, and is configured to include the steps of: instructing start of speech recording through the operation of the operation section 24; the main control section 29 for prescribing a slave unit during a speech; starting recording of the speech to the memory when the slave unit during the speech is a prescribed slave unit whose speech recording is permitted, and terminating the recording of the speech when the operation section is operated to instruct the end of speech recording or when the speech is finished; and outputting an error tone without starting the speech recording when the slave unit during the speech is the other slave units whose speech recording is disapproved.
