PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance organic thin film transistor in which surface roughness of an organic semiconductor is controlled. SOLUTION: In the organic thin film transistor including an organic semiconductor film, the organic semiconductor film is composed of an organic semiconductor material principally comprising a polymer having a repeating unit shown by formula (I) and has surface roughness of 2.4 nm or less. In the formula, Ar<SP>1</SP>is a substituted or non-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, each of the Ar<SP>2</SP>and Ar<SP>3</SP>is any one of substituted or non-substituted bivalent monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group, substituted or non-substituted bivalent noncondensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group, substituted or non-substituted bivalent monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group, or substituted or non-substituted bivalent condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group, and Ar<SP>4</SP>is any one of benzene, thiophene, biphenyl, or bivalent group of anthracene.
