PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless lighting apparatus having a resonator allowing its length and aperture ratio to be changed depending on the change of an ambient environment. SOLUTION: This electrodeless lighting apparatus includes: a waveguide 4 for guiding microwave energy generated from a microwave generator; a resonance unit 20 composed of two or more resonators 21 and 22 connected to an exit 4a of the waveguide 4, slidably connected to each other in the longitudinal direction thereof and each having a mesh structure, and changing in the length and the aperture ratio depending on the length for resonating the microwave energy guided by the waveguide 4; and a bulb 5 located in the resonance unit 20 for generating light by turning a substance enclosed inside into plasma by the microwave energy.
