PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of discharge tube restraining generation of void at an interface between glass beads and electrodes, capable of preventing generation of gas leak. SOLUTION: Electrodes 14, 16 are heated by resistance heating of a resistance heating member 32 by applying current to the resistance heating member 32 from an alternating current power source 34 in either of vacuum, nitrogen gas atmosphere, or inert gas atmosphere after oxidation treatment. By the above, unstable substance having chemical bond generated at the electrodes 14, 16 when an oxidized face 24 is formed at an oxidation treatment process, is released outward. Here, when the glass beads 22 are fused by heating and adhered to the oxidized face 24 of the electrodes 14, 16 on which the oxidation treatment is applied, the generation of gas is restrained, therefore, the generation of void remained on the interface between the oxidized face 24 and the glass beads 22 is restrained. Accordingly, airtightness and sealing strength of the discharge tube 10 is improved and the generation of gas leak is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
