PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regenerator for a stirling engine improved in a heat storage characteristic by improving heat transfer between a resin film and a working gas. SOLUTION: The resin film 33 constituting this regenerator has a tubular shape formed by spirally rolling a strip-like resin film, and slits 33a are formed on the resin film 33. Each slit 33a is formed to extend along a direction nearly perpendicular to a flow direction of the working gas. Thereby, the surface area of the resin film 33 is increased by the slits 33a, and the working gas flowing through spaces between the resin films 33 becomes a turbulent flow.
