PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a user that an OCR recognition rate is low by a defect in reading setting in early stages to reduce trouble and a time required for a rescan and newly OCR processing. SOLUTION: This OCR system 10 has: an operation/display part 11 integrally configured by an operation part receiving input operation of the user and a display part visually presenting information to the user; a reading part 12 converting information recorded on a document (a paper surface) into image information; an OCR processing part 13 performing OCR processing of the image information to obtain character information; a job management part 14 managing work of the reading part 12 and the OCR processing part 13; and a control part 16 controlling the processing parts 11, 12, 13, 14. The control part 16 performs control to display a result of the OCR processing of a first page and an image scanned by the reading part 12 on a display part so as to be compared by the user, and stops scan processing and the OCR processing when receiving input operation information for cancellation.
