PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support a sheet cassette with its length adjustable to suit the length of sheets to be stored with a minimum necessary number of rollers. SOLUTION: A sheet storing device 120 is equipped with the expandable cassette 101, storing sheets and divided into a front cassette portion 1 and a rear cassette portion 2, and rollers 8a to 8c arranged in row in the cassette draw-out direction, a front guide rib 1a installed in the front cassette portion 1 supported by the roller 8a, and a rear guide rib 2a installed in the rear cassette portion 2 supported by either of the rollers 8a to 8c, wherein the spacing L1 between the rollers 8a and 8b is made larger than the spacing La between the front guide rib and the rear guide rib when the cassette is expanded, and the overall length Lb of the rear guide rib is made longer than L1 and the spacing L2 between the rollers 8b and 8c.
