882,122. Valves. SIGMUND PUMPS Ltd. Dec. 21, 1959 [Dec. 22, 1958; April 8, 1959], Nos. 41231/58 and 11805/59. Addition to 810,627. Class 135. A mixing valve for controlling the temperature of water fed to two heating circuits comprises a double-headed valve member 4, controlling two coaxial inlets 2, 3, one of which leads from the boiler and the other from a return pipe of the heating circuit. The valve 4 is mounted for rotation on a spindle 7 and a bi-metal coil spring 9 is secured at one end to a sleeve 6 of the valve and at its other end to a temperature-setting finger 10. The valve housing 1 is provided with two outlets 11, 12, leading to the heating circuits, which are controlled by a rotatable valve member 13 secured to the spindle 7. The valve 13 has two openings 14, 15 such that both outlets may be opened at the same time or either one may be closed while the other is open. The spindle 7 may be turned manually or may be actuated by a solenoid. In a modification the valve 13 is provided with three openings such that for each 90 degrees rotation of the valve the outlets are both open, one open, both open and the other open respectively. In this case the rotation of the spindle is conveniently operated by a solenoid through a time control switch, the spindle carrying a ratchet wheel actuated by a pawl on the armature of the solenoid. |
