The invention relates to a roller rod, especially embodied as a roller body unit for a continuous press comprising continuously rotating steel strips. Said roller rod (1) consists of steel and is cylindrically embodied with a pre-determined length (L) and a pre-determined diameter (D). The roller rod comprises bearing boreholes (7) on the front side, in the ends (6) thereof, said boreholes having a pre-defined depth (T) and forming hollow cylindrical end regions (8) with a pre-defined wall thickness (W). Roller rod bearing bolts (9) with a pre-defined penetration depth (T) can be inserted into the bearing boreholes (7). The roller rod is hardened at least in certain parts. The invention is characterised in that the roller rod (1) is hardened in the hollow cylindrical end regions (8) respectively over an outer longitudinal section over the entire wall thickness (W), and on the edge layer between the end regions over a pre-defined inner longitudinal section having a pre-defined edge hardness depth.
