<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ink composition capable of forming ink particles (charged particles) narrow in size distribution with an average size of 0.8-2μm, with a pigment fully coated with a coating agent, capable of imparting the surface per ink particle with sufficient electric charge, and stable with no change in electric charge with time. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the ink composition comprises in succession a step of melt-kneading the pigment and the coating agent together, a step of dry-grinding the kneaded product and a step of wet-dispersing the ground product in a dispersion medium. This ink composition essentially contains charged particles comprising the pigment and the coating agent, wherein the pigment is such that its surface is encapsulated with a resin. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
