POWER OUTPUT DEVICE, AUTOMOBILE WITH THE DEVICE MOUNTED THEREON, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the over-charge of an electric storage device when the operation of an internal-combustion engine is stopped during the output of braking force to a driving shaft.

SOLUTION: When the stop of the operation of the engine 22 by a motor MG1 is indicated during the output of the braking force (a negative torque) to a ring gear shaft 32a being the driving shaft from a motor MG2, the fuel of the engine 22 is cut. Then the motor MG1 is controlled to output the negative torque in order to stop the operation of the engine 22. The motor MG2 is also controlled so as to limit the negative torque to be outputted from the motor MG2, based on the electricity generation power of the motor MG1 and the input limit of a battery 50 in this case. The torque shortage due to the torque limit to the motor MG2 is outputted from braking devices 89a, 89b attached to driving wheels 63a, 63b.
