PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reading device in which even an original is conveyed which is thicker than a distance between the glass surface of a CIS and rollers which oppose the glass surface while preventing flaws on the glass surface of the CIS and occurrence of jamming. SOLUTION: The original reading device includes a first image reading means for reading the front surface of the original, a second image reading means for reading the rear surface of the above original, and a first original conveyance path for conveying the original to an image reading position of the first image reading means and then conveying the original to an image reading position of the second image reading means. The original reading device further includes a detection means for detecting the thickness of the original, a second original conveyance path for conveying the original to the image reading position of the first image reading means and then ejecting the original in a discharge part without conveying to the image reading position of the second image reading means, and a conveyance path change mechanism with which the original is conveyed through the first original conveyance path when the thickness of the original is a predetermined value or less and the original is conveyed through the second original conveyance path when the thickness of the original is larger than the predetermined value.
