PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetoresistance effect type reproducing head having stable head output by preventing irregularity of head output caused by the magnetic domain structure of a magnetic shield layer in the magnetoresistance effect type reproducing head provided with shield parts such as a lower shield, and an upper shield. SOLUTION: In a magnetoresistance effect type reproduction head provided with the shield parts 12 and 14 for magnetically shielding a magnetoresistance effect type element, the shield parts 12 and 14 are formed to be polygonal in a plan view and are shaped asymmetrically in a height direction.
