PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and efficiently correct light intensity unevenness with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: In order to compensate unevenness of light intensity distribution in the main scanning direction caused on a photo conductor 12 resulting from a fact that an optical system is an overfield type and arrangement directions of an LD 13A and an LD 13B are provided so as to incline in the rotational axis direction of a rotating polygon mirror 17, a light intensity compensation value of one of a pair of LDs according to a position in the main scanning direction in a scanning area of a laser beam on the photo conductor 12 is calculated, a light intensity compensation value obtained by inverting the light intensity compensation value so as to be line symmetrical to a straight line in the vertical scanning direction passing through the center of the main scanning direction is calculated as a light intensity compensation value of the other LD and the light intensity of the laser beam to be emitted from the LDs is compensated based on the calculated compensation value.
