PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress transfer defects by suppressing an air gap formed between a recording medium and a photoreceptor belt. SOLUTION: In a transfer device 10, an elastic blade 58 extending from a conveying-direction upstream side of a transfer scoroton 42 to an electric field range A of the transfer scorotron 42 presses a recording medium P against the photoreceptor belt 16. An opening 70 through which discharge from the transfer scoroton can be passed is formed at a part of the elastic blade 58 which overlaps with the electric field range A of the transfer scorotron 42.
