PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for distinctly separating mixed particles of two kinds or more which have relatively large density according to the difference of material independent of the size of particles. SOLUTION: In the separation method, the mixed particles are separated as follow; in such a state that fluid medium is filled between upper and lower two planes horizontally located with a constant spacing and the mixed particles of two kinds or more of which the densities are larger than the density of the fluid medium are sedimented on the lower surface, a sonic wave of a specified frequency is radiated from at least one plane among the two planes, a node in a standing wave of the sonic wave is formed between the two planes and the separation is performed in order from a particle which is started to move vertically upward at first among the mixed particles of the two kinds or more sedimented on the lower plane when a mean sonic wave energy density of the sonic wave is gradually increased.
