<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal separator automatically discharging a solid content at an appropriate time so that a large amount of solid content is not accumulated in a rotation bowl. <P>SOLUTION: The centrifugal separator is provided with: a vertical rotation shaft 2; the rotation bowl 3 integrally and rotatably mounted thereto; and a treated liquid-feeding part 5. In the separator, the treated liquid A fed into the rotation bowl 3 is separated to a light liquid a<SB>1</SB>, a heavy liquid a<SB>2</SB>and a sludge a<SB>3</SB>. Discharge ports 10 for discharging the sludge a<SB>3</SB>deposited on an inner peripheral surface are opened to a peripheral side wall of the rotation bowl 3 in a circumferential direction at a required interval and opening/closing valve elements 11 are mounted to the respective discharge ports 10 through a spring. In the valve elements 11, centrifugal force applied to the valve elements 11 exceeds biasing force of the spring to close the discharge ports 10 at usual rotation of the rotation bowl 3. The discharge ports 10 are released by the biasing force of the spring by making the centrifugal force applied to the valve elements 11 less than the force of the spring by reducing the number of revolution of the rotation bowl 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
