APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR VIDEO SYNCHRONIZATION BY PARSING TIME STAMPS FROM BUFFERED PACKET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and methods for executing video synchronization by parsing time stamps from buffered packets.

SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: storing a plurality of packets of an MPEG PES in a buffer; retrieving a stored packet from the buffer and parsing the retrieved packet to recover a time stamp; comparing the recovered time stamp to a time reference; and controlling decoding of data in the retrieved packet responsive to a result of the comparison of the recovered time stamp to the time reference. Therefore, it is not necessary to consider bidirectional coding and only the PTS can be transmitted to a comparison/control section, thereby simplifying operation rather than the time of video transmission.
