<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and an image processing method capable of easily coping with various models, performing resizing with high degree of freedom, and accurately performing resizing of a transparency value of a boundary portion between an image element having a transparency value and an image element not having the transparency value in resizing. <P>SOLUTION: A selecting condition for selecting a resizing method in resizing transparency value data is set in a condition setting portion 1, and a selecting condition for selecting a resizing method in resizing color information is set in a condition setting portion 6. An instructing portion 2 and an instructing portion 7 select the resizing methods on the basis of these selecting conditions. An interpolating portion 3 and an interpolating portion 8 implement interpolating operation on the basis of instructions from the instructing portion 2 and the instructing portion 7. An edge processing portion 4 implements edge processing under the control by a control portion 5.
