PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video data reproducing device capable of displaying specified information without providing a special display area. SOLUTION: When a prescribed instruction, for example, a chapter skip instruction is inputted during reproducing a title, a notice image (splash mark) corresponding to the contents of the instruction is selected (step S102). Next, the number of all chapters of the title during being reproduced and a chapter number of a skip destination are read (step S104 and S106). Then, data for image display obtained by superimposing the read number of all chapters and chapter number of the skip destination on the selected splash mark is generated (step S108).
