PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which images of high image quality can be repetitively and stably obtained in the image forming apparatus equipped with an exposure light source having a major light emission wavelength region within a range from 350 to 500 nm, more particularly a blue LED or an exposure light source oscillating an ultraviolet blue-purple laser light. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus equipped with at least an electrophotographic photoreceptor, electrostatic charging means, an exposure means, a developing means, and a transfer means, in which the exposure means has the exposure light source having a main light emission wavelength region within a range from 350 to 500 nm; the electrophotographic photoreceptor has at least an undercoating layer and a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate; and the undercoating layer contains metal oxide particles and an acceptor type compound having a group reactable with the metal oxide particles.
