PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for lubricating a surface with a lubricant exhibiting a higher anti-oxidative characteristic, and to provide a composition. SOLUTION: The lubrication surface contains a lubricating composition comprising a lubricating viscosity base oil and a metal compound of an amount which can be dissolved in at least one hydrocarbon and has a larger effect for reducing the oxidation of a lubricating composition than an effect for reducing the oxidation of the lubricating composition not containing the metal compound soluble in the hydrocarbon, wherein the metal of the metal compound is selected from the group consisting of titanium, zirconium and manganese.
