PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To streamline data protection with respect to the interruption of data writing. SOLUTION: A medium is provided with three first to third writing areas as areas where data to be protected should be recorded, and writing is performed to the areas sequentially. Before the data to be protected are read and used, the contents of the data to be protected stored in the first to third writing areas are compared to identify effective data to be protected, according to the consistency/inconsistency of the contents, and data to be used actually is selected from the effective data to be protected.
