Also, the present invention provides a display element including a plurality of light-modulating unit cells, the unit cells each including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a light-modulating layer containing transportable charged fine particles showing coloration in a dispersion state, wherein the unit cells are layered such that light-modulating faces of the light-modulating layers are overlaid on each other.
