Embodiments of the invention describe a device, system and method for selectively recording an entry corresponding to an identity of a selected item. Some exemplary embodiments of the invention include a portable selection device able to select data associated with identifiable items. The portable selection device may include a selection interface to enter at least one data entry identifying at least one of the items, and circuitry to enable recording of the at least one data entry.
