<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confidential document management system that minimizes the risk of information leakage. <P>SOLUTION: A proxy file is interposed between a user and a confidential document for mediation between them. The user cannot access the confidential document direct and can only access the confidential document via the proxy file that is proxy for the confidential document. At the timing when the user opens the confidential document via the proxy file, a client system starts a particular application corresponding to the document. The user sees only the familiar particular application, and the client system operates completely transparently to the user.
