PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium layout support system that can facilitate the layout work and management of a replacement version by holding and managing a master version and the replacement version with replacement areas as intermediate data.

SOLUTION: A page layout apparatus 103 that accesses a merchandise information database 301 and a post information database 302 comprises a category area allocation means 121, a frame allocation means 122 for setting frames in category areas/replacement areas, a search request means 123, a merchandise allocation means 124, an allocation information recording means 125, and a replacement area creation means 128 for replacing at least one category area selected from layout data on a created master version with a replacement area and setting the entire position size of the selected category areas as replacement area information related to the page. Page layout processing is thereby performed on a replacement version.
