PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing method etc., of a longer lifetime. SOLUTION: The developing method comprises developing an electrostatic latent image carried onto an image carrier by using a developer. The developer is carried on a developing roller and is regulated by a roller type developer regulating member. The developer contains at least the toner obtained by dispersing a polyester prepolymer reactable with active hydrogen, undenatured polyester and a colorant into an organic solvent, dispersing the resultant dispersion into an aqueous medium and reacting the polyester prepolymer reactable with the active hydrogen, and organic particulates. The volume average grain size of the toner is≥3μm and≤8μm and the ratio of the volume average grain size to the number average grain size of the toner is≤1.25.
