METHOD FOR PRODUCING 2-FLUORO-6-(TRIFLUOROMETHYL)BENZYL BROMIDE AND 2-FLUORO-6-(TRIFLUOROMETHYL)BENZYLAMINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzylamine derivative useful as medicine/agrochemical intermediate and a solvent on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: 3-Fluoro-2-methylbenzotrifluoride is obtained by fluorinating 3-amino-2-methylbenzotrifluoride by a method via a diazonium salt. Then 3-fluoro-2-methylbenzotrifluoride is brominated to give 2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl bromide. Then 2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl bromide is reacted with benzylamine and then subjected to site-selective reduction reaction or alkylation with potassium phthalimide and hydrolyzed to give the objective 2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzylamine.
