PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope neither allowing the enlargement of a push button device whole body nor the change in the operation touch of the switch even if being subjected to autoclave sterilization. SOLUTION: This endoscope 2 is provided with a push button device 24 which comprises a switch 41 changed over between a contact and non-contact state of a fixed contact 49 with a deformation contact 48 whose partial body or whole body is elastically deformed, and a pushing member 42 watertightly covering the switch 41, and applied with an operation of elastically deforming the deformation contact 48 and bringing it into contact with the fixed contact 49. The moving distance of the deformation contact 48 caused by a total displacement due to the deformation of the pushing member 42 which is caused by at least one of a pressure and a thermal loading in a process of a high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization is a distance or less from a reference position where the pushing member 42 does not elastically deform the deformation contact 48 till a position of its coming into contact with the fixed contact.
