Disclosed is a negative electrode active material particle for lithium secondary batteries which electrochemically adsorbs and discharges lithium. This negative electrode active material particle for lithium secondary batteries is characterized by including a first metal having a property of mainly adsorbing and discharging lithium, and a second metal having a property of stabilizing the shape change of the first metal at the time of adsorption or discharge of lithium, while mainly containing an alloy composition composed of the first metal and the second metal, such as CoSn<SUB>2</SUB>. Also disclosed are a negative electrode using such a negative electrode active material particle, and methods for producing them. |
