A rough anti-slip or abrasive surface is formed from ferromagnetic metal or metal-coated particles bonded metallurgically to a metal support by molten metal. Said metal support is submitted to (i) flooding by a bath of molten tin, and (ii) the magnetic field of magnet(s), to hold the particles spread on the support and to orientate said particles perpendicular to said support, the temperature of the bath being lower than the Curie point of the particles. The support is lifted from the bath with the magnetic field maintained until the permanent fixation of said orientated metal or metal-coated particles on the support, to produce the rough anti-slip and abrasive surface. The bonding metal may also be Zn, Pb, Cu, Ag or alloys thereof. |
