PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CATV system wherein an electric signal having a frequency band different from the frequency band amplifiable by a bidirectional amplifier is also available for two-way communication. SOLUTION: A CATV system comprises: a bidirectional amplifier 15; a first filter 41A provided between a first connecting section 27B for a cable modem 33A that generates a first modem signal and a CATV transmission line 13A and the bidirectional amplifier for selectively attenuating a modem signal; a second filter 41B provided between a second connecting section 27C for a cable modem 33B that generates a modem signal and a CATV transmission line 13B and the bidirectional amplifier for selectively attenuating a modem signal; a third CATV transmission line 13F including a third filter of which both terminals are connected between the first and second connecting sections and the first and second filters for selectively passing a modem signal; and a fourth filter 41D provided between an optical node and the connecting section 27B for selectively attenuating a modem signal.
