PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for setting a reference color tone so as to print a monotone image as desired. SOLUTION: A color tone setting picture including a color tone designation area 110 for designating a color tone of a monotone image at one designation point is displayed. In accordance with a position of the designation point designated within the color tone designation area 110, the color tone of the monotone image is determined. The color tone designation area 110 is defined on an a*b* plane of an L*a*b* color specification system, and three reference color tone points Pneutral, Pwarm, Pcool indicating three reference color tones of warm tone, neutral tone and cool tone are linearly disposed within the color tone designation area 110 beforehand.
