PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set the optimum document type optimum to a document to be newly registered, by a document management device (computer). SOLUTION: A UI providing part 101 transfers a file to a document management part 102 to request processing for document registration, when a digital image file (file) input from a digital camera, and having Exif information edited by an input device 17 in response to necessity is instructed to execute the document registration. The document management part 102 transfers thereby the file to be newly registered to a header analytical part 103, acquires header information in response to a kind of the file, and acquires document type information from a document management DB 104. The optimum document type is selected based on keyword information of the document type constituting the header information and the document type information, to be set to the document to be newly registered.
