PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute route traveling by automatically generating an autonomous traveling route including an operation such as door passage as information, and to quickly search the route plan of a large scale area. SOLUTION: The route generation device is provided with input means 3 and 4 for inputting information, a storage means 5 for storing information and a processing means 1 for generating the route of a robot. The storage means 5 is stored with map data equipped with node elements being the information of respective divided units obtained by dividing a passage or a room as the route of the robot into proper units and connectors being information for connecting the adjacent node elements where the robot is able to move. When the traveling start spot and traveling target spot of the robot are applied by the input means 3 and 4, the processing means 1 generates the list of connectors where the robot passes from the retrieval of the node elements and the connectors of the storage means 5.
