PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe vehicle following distance displaying device which displays a safe distance between vehicles with minimum information quantity in a vehicle not provided with a means for detecting a distance between a preceding vehicle and its own vehicle. SOLUTION: The safe vehicle following distance displaying device includes: a vehicle-speed detection part 10 which detects a speed of a vehicle; a friction coefficient estimation part 60 which estimates the coefficients of friction of tires of the vehicle to the surface of a road; a safe distance-between-vehicle computation part 40 which computes a safe distance between a preceding vehicle and its own vehicle based on the speed of its own vehicle, which the vehicle speed detection part 10 detects, and the coefficients of friction which the friction coefficient estimation part 60 estimates; and a display part 50 which displays the safe distance between the vehicles which the safe distance-between-vehicle computation part 40 computes.
