PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner for image formation permitting high-quality image, having high-resolution and low-temperature fixability, while maintaining in tact the advantages of chemical toner with narrow particle distribution and small grain in size and with superior in fluidity, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same, a developer, an image forming apparatus, and a process cartridge. SOLUTION: The toner for image formation is prepared, by removing a solvent from an oil-in-water emulsion or suspension composed of at least an oil phase of 10-90 wt% and an aqueous phase of 90-10 wt%, the oil phase exhibits Newtonian viscosity, and the preparation step includes an astringent step for oil. The toner for image formation is made of true spherical particles, having an average circularity of 0.975-0.999 and the ratio of the volume average particle diameter (Dv) to number average particle diameter (Dn) of 1.05≤Dv/Dn≤1.25.
