PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distribution material inspection device and an inspection method capable of discriminating easily a defective/non-defective article and a residual lifetime of the distribution material, and utilizing effectively the distribution material by reducing waste. SOLUTION: This distribution material inspection device 10 for inspecting the spent distribution material 1 used for distribution equipment is equipped with a conveyance means 20 for conveying the distribution material 1; a cleaning means 30 for cleaning the distribution material 1; a film thickness measuring means 50 having a magnetometric sensor 51, for measuring the film thickness of a coating or plating of the distribution material 1 by the magnetometric sensor 51; a discrimination means 70 for discriminating the residual lifetime of the distribution material 1 based on a measuring result by the film thickness measuring means 50, and an information sticking means 60 for sticking a recording medium wherein at least a discrimination result by the discrimination means 70 is recorded on the distribution material 1.
