The plant has a power bus (4) that is connected with a load e.g. electric motor, feeding supply lines (6) that have a reduced cross section. The load comprises a maximum current value for limiting the current. A protection unit e.g. fuse, is integrated in a control unit for safeguarding the supply lines against unacceptable high over current. The control unit is connected with the load for transferring information by signal lines. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a plant.
