To the axis of a leadscrew (5) forming part of the mechanism, a braking disc (51) is fitted. A locking mechanism (6) acts upon the braking disc. This comprises a circumferential support containing locking components. These are moved to cause jamming or locking of the braking disk in either the left hand- or right hand sense of rotation. They are also released to permit rotation in either direction, when required. These actions either lock or release the seat adjustment leadscrew.
