<p>The invention relates to a method of detecting a transmission fault in relation to a wheel unit belonging to a tyre pressure monitoring system. Said type of system generally comprises a group of wheel units (18), which is associated with a central unit (16) that is placed in the vehicle (11). The inventive method comprises the following steps, namely: a) messages are transmitted by the wheel units (18); b) said messages are received by the central unit (16) which is equipped with an active antenna (17) having a plurality of reception lobes (L1 to L4), each of which can receive a message from a pre-determined wheel unit (18); c) a lobe is deactivated when said lobe (L1 to L4) has received a message from the associated wheel unit (18); d) steps b) and c) are repeated until all of the lobes of the active antenna have received a message; e) if all of the messages from all of the wheel units have been received after a pre-determined period of time all of the lobes are reactivated and, in the opposite case, the wheel units from which messages have not been received are declared to be silent . The invention also relates to a detection device and to a corresponding locator device and a method.</p> |
