PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine operating with high efficiency even in a high rotation operating region by reducing the magnetic flux of a field magnet depending on the rotational speed of the rotor. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine comprises a field magnet 58 secured to a shaft 54, a rotor core 52 shaped such that the magnetic path resistance for the field magnet 58 is varied at a relative position to the field magnet 58 in the rotational direction, and governor mechanisms (52a, b, 53b, 55, 57) for regulating the relative position of the rotor core 52 to the field magnet 58 in the rotational direction.
