PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sinker electric discharge machine jump control device improving machining efficiency by reciprocating a tool electrode at an appropriate speed irrespective of the size and the shape of the tool electrode, and the size of a working gap. SOLUTION: The sinker electric discharge machine jump control device is equipped with a command current generator generating a command current Iqr for a servo motor 17, a velocity generator dividing a locus of a jump stroke into a plurality of segments and generating a command velocity Vr for each of the plurality of segments, a velocity override calculator 52 generating a velocity override Vor according to the command current Iqr, and a command velocity modifying device 26 modifying the command velocity according to the velocity override Vor during the jump stroke.
