PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the scuffing property of a press die, by which method, the result of a short-time laboratory test can be achieved without using an actual die, and further to provide its testing apparatus. SOLUTION: A test block B corresponding to the press die having a flat sliding surface is pressed against an opposed block so as to sandwich a steel plate P corresponding to a workpiece between the testing block and the opposed block. In this state, the steel plate is repeatedly drawn out in the direction of the plate surface. Then, the sliding surface of the test block is observed. The scuffing property of the press die is evaluated by the scuffed area rate from the changes of the scuffing state caused by the increase in the times of the sliding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
