PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron sulfate/oxide-containing new structure effective as a solid acid catalyst and a method for manufacturing the iron sulfate/oxide-containing new structure. SOLUTION: The iron sulfate/oxide-containing new structure is manufactured by depositing iron sulfate and/or iron oxide on the surface layer part of an inactive carrier, sulfating the inactive carrier thus deposited and firing the sulfated inactive carrier at 350-800°C. Iron sulfate/oxide exists in the surface layer part of the structure, particularly, the surface layer part of the exterior surface to the depth of 1-1,000μm. The internal layer except the surface layer part of the structure is composed of the inactive carrier in which iron sulfate/oxide is not contained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
