An automatic copying-lathe is arranged vertically and comprises a first column carrying a headstock with at least one work-spindle and a tailstock positioned below each work-spindle, a second column being positioned adjacent the first column on which at least one tool-holding slide is movable. When a single spindle headstock 4, Fig. 1, is used, this is arranged at the top of a vertical column 2 with the spindle 5 facing a tailstock 3. Turning is effected in an upward direction by a copying tool slide 8 arranged on a column 7 parallel to the headstock column and joined thereto by a bridge at the top. A further tool slide 6 may be arranged on the headstock column. In a multi-spindle arrangement the workpieces 13 are carried by headstocks and tailstocks on the faces of a square-sectioned indexible upright member 23. These tool-slide supporting columns are provided at the index stations and the fourth station is used for loading &c. and checking the work. |
