<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a double-face printing process to be carried out simply without errors in an image forming apparatus with no perfecting press mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus with no perfecting press mechanism, a paper with a front face printed is set in a paper manual insertion and feeding part and is taken from the feeding part, whereby printing of a rear face is carried out. At this time, when printing of the front face ends, if it is detected by a paper detection switch 24 that a paper is already present in a manual insertion tray 23, it is notified that the paper with the front face printed is to be set after the paper is removed. Whether or not the paper is removed is detected on the basis of change-over of the paper detection switch 24. When the paper with the front face printed is set after the paper is removed, a process of printing the rear face is performed.
