<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce luminance unevenness generated on a display surface of a liquid crystal display element of a liquid crystal display device adopting a vertical type back light unit. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps irradiating the liquid crystal display element with irradiation light and a reflecting member arranged on the opposite side of the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps from the liquid crystal display element, and the reflecting member has a projection portion in a region disposed between the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps, wherein the projection portion is triangularly sectioned in a plane orthogonal to the extending direction of the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps and satisfies 10 mm<D<20 mm, and h≥d1 and tan<SP>-1</SP>(2(h+d1)/L)≥90°-θ. Here, D is the distance between the reflecting member and an optical member, L the distance between center portions of the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps, d1 the distance from the reflecting member to the center portions of the plurality of cold fluorescent lamps, (h) the height of the projection portion, and θ the narrow angle that two sides of the projection portion projecting to the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps contain. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
