PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device without generating brightness variations or the like and with excellent power efficiency even in a large-sized liquid crystal display device or the like. SOLUTION: The backlight device is equipped with a plurality of fluorescent tubes arranged in parallel so as a longitudinal direction to be nearly the same direction, and an inverter circuit mounting a plurality of inverter transformers converting input voltage to high voltage. The inverter circuit is paired, and arranged on both ends of each of the fluorescent tubes, the plurality of fluorescent tubes are driven by the pair of inverter circuits.
